5 Reasons for Acupuncture

1. A Specific Challenge

Are you suffering from a tangible problem such as:

  • allergies
  • sleep problems
  • headaches
  • low energy
  • menstrual complaints

The disruption and suffering this brings to daily life can be very motivating.  In western medicine we are used to looking for a solution focused on solving the problem at hand. An effective method of solving a headache may be to take a paracetamol. An excellent short-term effective solution. However if your headache comes back every day, you may not want to rely on taking pills everyday to cope. In your treatment I aim to look at the full picture, your lifestyle, relationships, environment, habits as well as your internal landscape. This can give insight into the root of what may be causing your issue, as well as direction as how to treat it. Your headache may be caused by habitually sitting awkwardly at your desk, causing tension in your neck. It may be caused by unresolved emotions that create tension and imbalances or any number of other possibilities. This is the art of the process. It is a wonderful opportunity for developing self-awareness in a supportive and empowering way. You can learn to manage your own health in the long term.

The World Health Organisation (WHO) has compiled a list of a wide variety of diseases or disorders for which acupuncture therapy has been tested in controlled clinical trials. Click here to download

2. You Want to Feel Better

Feeling not quite yourself, but can’t quite put your finger on it. You may be chronically tired, lacking energy and motivation. Your system just feels off. This may have been going on for some time or a recent development. This kind of challenge may require some detective work to get to the root of what’s going on. This is where working together is an important part of the process. Monitoring changes or improvements between treatments, noticing more about what moves you and challenges you in your day to day life. It’s this team work that makes change more enjoyable, effective and sustainable. The process as well as the treatments contribute both to improving your sense of health, well-being and vitality

3. A Fertility Challenge

Acupuncture and my unique approach to Integral Fertility can support you on your journey to parenthood. Having experienced my own fertility challenges, I have a deep understanding of the impact this is having on you and your partner / family. The depth and tenderness of the pain and frustration that permeates everything. The rollercoaster of hope and despair with every cycle. The nerve-wracking 2 week wait.

Acupuncture can help to regulate menstrual cycles, and release energetic blocks. Combined with body work, energy exercises, movement, imagery and meditation. A deeply personal approach to your unique situation,  born out of 10 years of investigating solutions for my own fertility challenge.  I look forward to supporting you to juice up your fertility! 4. Pregnancy Support

Including Birth preparation & Turning a breech baby

Acupuncture can be a wonderful support during pregnancy. It is a beautiful and tender process that can also offer it’s own unique set of challenges. It is also an important time to nurture yourself as well as your growing child. A well known application is using moxa to help turn a baby with breech presentation. This is a totally non-invasive, safe and comfortable process that you can learn to do yourself at home. Also an incredibly empowering process that acupuncture offers is a way to prepare your body for childbirth. In the last 4 to 6 weeks of your pregnancy, it’s possible to have a specific series of weekly treatments aimed at ripening your cervix, softening your ligaments, helping the baby to descend and anchor ready for birth. 5. Prevention

In general you feel good and want to stay that way. You may know that you are more challenged when the seasons change for example. You may know a change is coming in your personal or professional life and want to give yourself a bit of extra support. Time for yourself. Support and boost your foundations. Stay strong rather than tapping into vital resources. Prevention is often better and easier than the cure. Acupuncture coupled with personalised self-care ‘treats’ is valuable way to support yourself.
